Anna Sala & Lara Magrinyà
L’arannà is a duo formed in 2019 by Anna Sala (Sant Feliu de Guíxols) and Lara Magrinyà (Ibiza). Both, classically trained pianists, come together around an interest in sonic experimentation and the symbiosis between electronics and traditional music, author’s song, or pop.
In their first album, La salamandra (Blau Atzavara, 2024), the group sets to music some of Mercè Rodoreda’s most mystical stories and showcases a style marked by vocal interplay, the character of the keyboards, and the hybridization of sonic universes. With this project, they performed about sixty concerts throughout Catalonia and the Balearic Islands, as well as shows in Madrid and Granada. In the same year, they also represented Barcelona at the Guadalajara International Book Fair, in Mexico.
Now they present Turmarí, where they delve into the tradition of popular music from the Pitiusa Islands to offer, through the sonic experimentation that characterizes them, a particular look at Ibiza and Formentera.
Amidst glosses and repeated chants, some rescued from sound archives and others of their own creation, the Ibizan-Catalan group crafts a narrative that traces the reality and roots of two islands.
